After an enforced period of abstinence from our delicious meals, they are finally back..

now nothing can prevent you from visiting our restaurant. Why not combine the occasion with a short trip to the lake? After reading the new Falstaff Gourmet Guide 2021, I already know where my trip will take me.. to Lake Wolfgang, to my Hotel Cortisen am See, which was again awarded 89 points (2 forks) this year. Neither the local pub nor my own meal creations at home were enough to satisfy my hunger..

After a bit of research about what you can do in and around the hotel, I'm finding it extremely difficult to choose between the many options – my holidays are just too short for it all! While my partner has been looking forward to the spacious wellness area and a relaxing massage at the Pavilion right on the lake ever since we made the booking, I will take some time out for myself to feel the wind around my ears on the hotel's own Harley Davidson 'Roadking'.

Upon arriving at the hotel, we enjoy a cool aperitif on the terrace, with its direct view across Lake Wolfgang – just the right thing after staying at the office longer than I meant to, and the best way to clear your head and get ready for your short break.

After freshening up in our rooms, we make straight for the dining area on the lake-side terrace to watch the sunset and enjoy many foodie treats.

And, of course, I booked a table in the restaurant for the evening.

why look afar when there is so much quality nearby?! One look at the menu makes our mouths water! We are spoilt for choice and decide on two different menu compositions so we can try out each other's dishes as well. Such a varied international wine list is hard to find for miles around.

After a choice selection of Austrian cheeses with delicious home-made chutneys,

we enjoy a digestif at the hotel bar – but the vast selection of gins and whiskeys leave us with even more decisions to be made. And I suspect that this will be no different at the 6-course á-la-carte breakfast tomorrow morning. We are excited to find out what local delicacies will be on our plates tomorrow.. I better start dreaming about them now..
