The village of St. Wolfgang used to be owned by Mondsee Abbey, and a relatively large area covered the former grounds of the Cortisen. Our land was the location of the abbey's first and oldest brewery. The name comes from Ecclesiastical Latin: 'ad cortissem' means something along the lines of 'belonging to the court'. We decided to keep the name because we did not want any bears, eagles or similar as our logo. In the era of the internet, this was an unconscious but a wise decision.

Anyone who knows us and our hotel is aware that we love and value all that is special. We have created a successful mixture of old and new styles, of traditional and modern. Roland and Sari have collected many ideas, impressions and the odd accessory throughout their extensive, and at times adventurous, travels around the globe.

You won't find uniformity here – every picture, piece of furniture and every item, no matter how insignificant it might appear, tells its own story and was included at Cortisen for a reason. Find out for yourself and let yourself be inspired by the charm of our hotel and its hosts.

The two have demonstrated excellent taste not just in interior architecture and ideas: they also treat our guests to a special selection of fine drinks. Our wine list will take you on a trip around the world, and we promise you we have tasted and selected every single wine ourselves – alongside them, you will get a chance to try both local and international delicacies.

Our attention to detail has given our hotel a beautiful new face – both inside and out. In addition to our 25 m indoor panorama pool, our newly built boathouse awaits you, with its suite on the upper deck and sauna directly above the waves of Lake Wolfgang. If we're honest, we would love to spend the whole summer in the Boat Shed Suite ourselves, to enjoy the view, relax and unwind.

But as passionate hosts who see Cortisen not just as a business but a little like their own front room, there never seems to be quite enough time for leisure. Those rare moments that Roland has available to unwind, he often spends on the lake in his motorboat or taking a dip in the cool water. Or climbing up to our local mountain as quickly as possible – at 1,700m above sea level, it gets easier to clear your head, sort your thoughts and think up new ideas.
